Hot stone therapy / massage is a massage that uses treated volcanic rocks such as basalt and basinite which promote relaxation as well as eliminating negative energy within the client’s body, mind and soul.

These stones are carefully gathered and handcrafted for various sizes, shapes and weights according to what part of the body it will be use on. It could be as small as the size of the thumb or could be as large as about 2 to 3 pounds of weight.

On most treatment, the stones are put on the chakra points of the body along the spine. The chakra points are the body’s energy centre. It is believed to vitalise the physical body. When stimulated, it balances energy flow throughout the body.

Hot stone therapy / massage is likewise considered more gentle to the body compared with Swedish massage or deep tissue massage since hot stone practitioner uses the stone instead of their hands to massage. However gentle it may seem so, therapists are able to reach ten times deeper during the massage than through the use of mere fingers making it more intense than a regular Swedish massage.

The stones are heated using water with temperature ranging from 120 – 130 degree Fahrenheit although usual treatment requires alternating the use of hot basalt or basinite stones and much colder stones like marble ones.  It is believed that the combination of warmth and cool treatment encourages the body to relax, detox and heal.
